Tonee
Hello Everyone,
My name is Tonee and I have been auditioning to be a part of the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders for two years now.
The first time I audition, I had no idea what I was doing—not a clue. I literally thought I could go to a couple of the WRC scheduled prep classes and ‘Voila!’ I’m a cheerleader! But that was definitely not the case. At my first audition, because I have some natural rhythm I made it past the Round 1(Freestyle) to Round 2, where you learn choreography and perform a routine in front of an audience. I thought I nailed this portion, but sadly I did not make the cut. At the time I was crushed and I didn’t know why I was not chosen. But in hindsight, I didn’t know what the judges were looking for, the Sideline Prep Coaches do.
I should have gone to the Sideline Prep courses that were offered at the end of EVERY prep class I attended. The coaches kept encouraging girls to go sign up for Sideline Prep but I never did. I honestly was too embarrassed and intimidated! I didn’t want to admit that I needed help and guidance through this stressful audition process. I literally wasted an entire year because of my insecurities, and I had no one to blame but myself.
So the next time I auditioned, I took a leap of faith and signed up for a few of the Prep courses Sideline Prep offered. And I am so thankful I did! When you sign up for a course you are getting one-on-one consultations and that alone is priceless. The Sideline Prep Coaches are very knowledgeable and are here to help you figure out what is best way for you to succeed. But it is up to YOU to absorb the knowledge they have given you and practice, Practice, PRACTICE!!! Take my advice; don’t wait till the last minute to take these courses. They are offered all year round.
My hard work paid off; during my second time auditioning I became a WRC Finalist! I could not believe how far I had come. Ultimately I was not selected to be a cheerleader; however, thanks to the Sideline Prep tips I learned, I made a fantastic impression on the judges and was selected to be a WRC Ambassador.
Needless to say, go for it. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. What else do you have to lose!
