Not Feeling Motivated? DO THIS!
Not Feeling Motivated? DO THIS!
Last week I shared with you the moment I realized I wasn’t done with pro cheer. I thought I was. But I wasn’t.
As a quick recap, it was soon after I “retired” from the First Ladies of Football (NFL cheerleader for the Washington Football Team) right after I started Sideline Prep.
I started holding one-on-one dance sessions with ladies. We worked on everything from freestyle, snippits, facials, across the floor technique, pirouettes, and kicks. I was in my zone and feeling great! I began dancing again and that’s when it happened.
I realized, I wasn’t DONE!
That’s when I came up with the bright idea to audition for the Wizards dance team.
Then all the negative thoughts, self defeating emotions, self doubt and uncertainty started to take over. I began to literally talk myself out of auditioning for the NBA.
The fear, doubt and overwhelm took the form of negative thoughts… saying,
“No silly! You don’t have a dance background. You’re not technical. How can you possibly be an NBA dancer? Come on Ge!”
The doubt and overwhelmed stopped me in my tracks. I hit a BRICK WALL and couldn’t figure out how to knock it down.
I allowed these thoughts to get me down. I was unmotivated. I didn’t want to get up in the mornings. I didn’t want to go to work… I didn’t want to do too much of anything. I was letting the uncertainty impact every area of my life.
Until I decided ENOUGH was ENOUGH.
I soon realized that just as I was able to think NEGATIVELY, I was just as capable of thinking POSITIVELY.
I remembered that my thoughts dictate my emotions and my motivation.
I remembered that my thoughts were the key to either inaction or taking one small action.
I remembered that one simple shift in perspective was the key to me believing in myself or just giving up on myself.
I choice positivity. I choice action. I choice believing in myself.
So I started to take action… tearing down that HUGE brick wall brick by brick by brick… or should I say, negative thought by negative thought by negative thought.
But it all started with my mind… My thoughts… My perspective on what I was capable of doing.
Has this ever happened to you?
Have you ever had so much doubt that you weren’t able to push forward or get motivated to take the next step… BUT then all of a sudden you realized that you were in COMPLETE CONTROL. All it took was a different perspective and mindset to remind you that it IS possible… and you ARE capable…. you ARE enough!!!!
Please hit reply and let me know. I’d love to hear how you were able to shift your thoughts.
Next week, I’m going to share what action I took next. I’ll share the steps I took to help me turn the negative thoughts into uplifting-motivating-gotta take action thoughts… which led me to eventually become a professional dancer for the NBA.
It’s amazing how success is just on the other side of one thought and one action.
